CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN
Pelvic pain is a complex condition, and many etiolgies are attributable to this sometimes debilitating condition. We utilize a stepwise process to evaluate your specific condition and devise a personalized treatment plan for you.

Some causes of chronic pelvic pain include endometriosis, ovarian cysts, vulvodynia, adenomyosis, fibroids, muscle spasm, and interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome and fibroids. Each of these conditions require nuanced diagnoses and have multiple treatment modalities. Both medical and surgical therapies will be carefully explored with your optimum care in mind.

HEAVY MENSTRUAL AND IRREGULAR BLEEDING

There can be many different causes of heavy menstrual and/or irregular menstrual bleeding. Dr. Sudela offers in office hysteroscopy, if applicable, in response to this issue. A thin illuminated tube with a camera is inserted through the vagina to visualize the cervix and then inside of the uterine cavity. This procedure serves as both a diagnostic and treatment tool and can be done without anesthesia and with minimal discomfort to the patient. Possible sources of bleeding may include polyps, fibroids, inflammation and uterine abnormalities, all of which can be diagnosed and addressed by our practice.
URINARY INCONTINENCE
After childbearing, you may experience occasional leakage of urine when you cough, laugh, or sneeze. Many women consider this normal. However, this condition is a result of changes in the muscle and structure of the pelvic floor that, without treatment, can get worse with time. Dr. Sudela has advanced training in diagnosis and treatment of these disorders.
CHRONIC URINARY INFECTIONS
If you find yourself being treated multiple times a year for persistently recurring urinary tract infections, you may need evaluation. There may be underlying conditions that are contributing to your condition.

At Thomas Sudela, MD, P.A., we are well-versed in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic UTI and will work in concert with your primary care physician and specialists to formulate the best treatment plan for you.

ABNORMAL PAP SMEARS
If you have an abnormal Pap smear or a positive HPV test result, you may need further testing. The following tests may be done depending on your cervical cancer risk. Testing is based on your age, initial screening results and any prior testing.
Colposcopy, biopsy and endocervical sampling- colposcopy is an exam of the cervix with a magnifying device. If an abnormal area is seen you may need a biopsy. The biopsy will be sent to the lab and then the cell changes will be determined there.
In general, there are two ways to treat abnormal cervical cells: excisional treatment (Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and Conization) and ablative treatment (Cryotherapy and Laser therapy). Dr. Sudela is skilled and trained in both of these treatment modalities that can at times be performed in office.
